If you are planning your wedding, chances are that you have tons of questions and concerns about your wedding photography. Here are a few frequently asked questions & answers!
How would you describe your style of photography? I have a background in fashion photography, so that has greatly influenced my style. I adore lots of romantic details, high-fashion poses, and whimsical, fairytale-like set design. It is your wedding day though, so candids are definitely a must- and every little bit of emotion that comes with that. I also believe that since it is your wedding, that you should look your absolute best. Because of this, I go through every photo, and fix any distracting elements, acne, stray hairs, etc.
Do I get every photo that you take during the day? As I stated above, I believe that you should have the very best for the wedding. So doubles, blinks, mis-fires, etc are not delivered. Also, because of the extended retouching I do, I do not deliver the original or RAW (.CR2) files. You will receive a set of hi-res digital files with printing rights with your package.
Is retouching an additional charge? Absolutely not! I would hate to have unflattering photos of myself floating around anywhere, so I hold that same standard for my clients.
What if I want my photos re-edited after you deliver them to me? If it’s one or two photos, and it’s something tiny that I might have missed, I’d be happy to do a quick fix for you. I spend a good amount of time going over each photo to make it aesthetically pleasing, and in-line with my style of photography & retouching, so if there is a significant amount of changes you want after delivery, it will be $30/photo to re-edit. (Think of it as when your boss asks you to do extra work after your normal work day- obviously you would expect to be paid overtime.)
Do you have backup equipment and liability insurance? Yes, and yes. I have backup photography equipment, including additional camera bodies, lenses, flashes, batteries, etc. that I bring with me to every wedding, Along with that, I also have both equipment and liability insurance.
Is travel an additional fee? Anything up to 2 hours away is already covered in your package, and will not cost anything additionally. Anything over that will require a mileage fee, and a hotel fee on a case by case basis.
Should I get a second photographer with the package? A second photographer is like a good insurance plan. It ensures that you will get the first kiss photo if a guest steps in front of my camera at the wrong moment, or if (heaven forbid), I would get stuck in traffic on the way to the wedding. However, with that said, I have photographed more weddings by myself than I have with a second photographer, so that is totally up to you!
How much does it cost to book our wedding photography package? A non-refundable retainer of 35% of your package is due whenever you sign the contract in order to hold the date of your wedding.
What happens if you are late or get sick the day of the wedding? I am OBSESSIVE about being early to everything. I always leave with at least an extra hour of buffer time to account for traffic/etc. That being said, life does happen. If, under unexpected consequences,(e.g. an accident the day of the wedding, or in the hospital) and I was not able to be there at your wedding, I would do everything in my power to find a suitable replacement.
Will you re-create the photos I have pinned on Pinterest? I would LOVE to see your Pinterest wedding boards to see the vision you have in mind for your wedding. I never want to copy someone else’s wedding or photography, but we can use those photos as inspiration for your wedding!
How long after the wedding do we get to see the photos? I normally post a preview on Facebook/Instagram a day or two after the wedding, a blog post 2-3 weeks after, and deliver the USB of the hi-res retouched photos 6-8 weeks later.
Do you follow a shot list? The only time I have ever used a shot list is during the family photos after the ceremony (and that is only if there was no one to organize who should be in what photo) Otherwise, shot lists tend to be more of a hindrance than a help since I would be paying more attention to the shot list itself rather than documenting the day.
What are the restrictions for sharing photos online/printing? Do you own the copyright to the photos? With your package, you receive printing rights and sharing rights. I retain the copyrights to all of my photos. You will receive a print release with the USB of the hi-res retouched photos.
What if we don’t want you to share our photos online? Chances are that you found my work through seeing photos of your friend’s wedding, or maybe something I posted on Instagram, which led you here! Without that form of “advertising,” I wouldn’t have much to show future clients! Because of that, my wedding packages are priced with a built-in discount for me to use the photos as future advertising. If you are not comfortable with having your photos online, an additional privacy fee will be added onto your package.
How long are engagement/bridal sessions? Both sessions are normally around an hour long, and I usually deliver between 30-40 retouched photos.
